John Carter Through the Years

In light of John Whalen’s review of Michael Seller’s John Carter and the Gods of Hollywood, I thought it might be instructive to take a look at the different artistic depictions of the world’s first interplanetary super hero.  You may find my interpretations a bit snarky, but then what’s a good blog entry for?

Forthwith, a gallery of relatively ancient through the relatively contemporary.  I’ve offered as much identification as is available, as well as my own take on the rightness of each depiction in the captions.

Next week I’ll offer up the NSFW gallery of Dejah Thoris, a much more appealing enterprise if I do say so myself.
