Five nights, ten animatrons, and a brand-new restaurant. I think it’s been far long enough to address Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. Scott Cawthon is back with another installment to the highly successful game, Five Nights at Freddy’s, a point-and-click single player horror focusing on a failing children’s restaurant and it’s dark past. Yet, it seems that Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, and Freddy weren’t enough. Redesigned and improved, Freddy Fazbear brings a whole new cast of animatrons to an even larger establishment with more fun and no doors. So let us not waste any more time and continue on with something borrowed and something new.
In Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, you play as Jeremy Fitzgerald who has just started his job as the nighttime security for Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. As in the previous game, you check the various camera feeds as the restaurants animatrons come to life and roam the building. With that, a few features have been added and contracted. There is now a music box that you must diligently wind up throughout the night and while they have taken away the doors to your office, you’ve been given a Freddy Fazbear head in hopes of tricking the animatrons should they get to close.

As expected, a dark tale slowly unfolds as the game progresses. So what starts as a basic fear for one’s survival becomes an eerie chill from the discovered events. Furthermore, with what story you do get during the events of the game, more and more questions develop. Thus, as before, the community has spent countless hours formulating theory after theory regarding the maniacal animatrons and their vague but grim past. In the end we are left with just as many, if not more, questions in the growing lore of Five Nights at Freddy’s. In the previous game, we were left with the mystery of the five missing, and presumably murdered, children along with the dreaded bite of ’87. Picking up with the mysteries that its previous installment established, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 has introduced the enigmatic, community named “Purple Man” and his history of murdering children along with his connection with Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.
What we do know is is that Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is actually a prequel set in November of 1987, a week before the second of the three Freddy Fazbear’s restaurants are closed due to the tampering of the animatrons and eventually the infamous bite of ’87. As for what else happened during the last week of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza is all theory and speculation by the community of gamers who are fascinated by the Five Nights at Freddy’s lore. Most of what we have to go on is the retro style death minigames with its cryptic hints that occur occasionally after you’ve already lost the game. Very likely, will be forced to wait until the third pending installment is released to know what really happened with the Purple Man, the children, and the deranged, murderous animatrons that we’ve all come to fear.
