Here’s the weekly post from my author blog on the new releases I found to be of interest in my three favorite romance genres (which are also the ones I write in!), and related areas such as time travel, steampunk, paranormal cozy romances and more. I do sometimes cover other releases of note in science fiction and fantasy.
As always, I recommend sampling before you buy! I have not read most of the new releases listed (although I always end up one-clicking a bunch as I prepare these posts). I don’t pick up every single new release each week but try to provide a representative subset and lots of choices.
Here’s a teaser for this week’s first two books (jump to the blog to see the approximately 120+ titles featured this week):
VORTEX (CYBORG FORCE BOOK THREE) by Cara Bristol
Her dream job is becoming her worst nightmare. Attorney Tempest Waters jumps at the chance to make a difference in the galaxy by joining the president’s administration. But once inside the White House she discovers the publicly personable politician is criminally corrupt and venal to the core. Unfortunately, Tempest has seen too much to be allowed to resign. When the menacing henchman Benjamin Bane begins dogging her every step, she fears she may be in serious trouble. With the excuse of checking on the president’s planetary interests, she escapes to dune-covered, sand-blasted Sajave—only to have Bane follow her. Not all cyborgs are good guys. Some are stone-cold killers. When Benjamin Bane undergoes the transformation to cyborg, he suffers a rare complication—the loss of his emotions. He’s unable to feel more than shallow sentiments. On the plus side, being dead inside makes his job as an enforcer doing the president’s dirty work a lot easier. But then he encounters Tempest Waters. Something about the unassuming but efficient presidential aide catches his eye. What begins as mild interest soon becomes an obsession as she reawakens his dormant passions and sweeps him into a vortex of emotion. But he can’t afford to feel anything. He’s been ordered to kill her.
DRAKKAR (SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN ALIEN BROTHERS BOOK 4) by Honey Phillips
Can a vulnerable human become a dragon warrior’s greatest treasure? For generations, Drakkar’s people have chosen to live alone, only coming together for brief periods, but when he joins the battle raging across his home planet, he finds an unexpected family in a set of misfit warriors. After the war ends, he chooses to cut all ties to his past and accompany his new brothers to a backwater planet. He knows he is not suited for a mate and a family, but as he watches his brothers choose human brides, he finds himself envying those relationships. Then a vulnerable female awakens his protective instincts. He is determined to save her – and her precious child – even though he knows he cannot keep them. Kitty has a history of foolish decisions, but now that she has a child to protect she is determined to change her ways. She refuses to let the arrogant dragon-like warrior who rescues her become yet another mistake. But there is a hidden vulnerability behind his haughty demeanor, and once again her heart threatens to lead her astray. Stranded in an isolated mountain cave in the middle of a blizzard, can Kitty find the courage to trust again? And can Drakkar overcome a lifetime of solitude for a chance at happiness?
