Bringing you more new releases in science fiction romance! I may not have read all of them myself yet, so as always, sample for yourself before buying.
FINN (HELL SQUAD) by Anna Hackett – this series has been so much fun, with the dinosaurlike aliens, fierce battles and hot romances.
The story: In the aftermath of a deadly alien invasion, a band of survivors fights on…
For Hawk pilot Finn Erickson, flying is in the blood. Since the aliens decimated the planet, he spends most of his time flying Hell Squad into combat. With communication to other survivor bases cut off, he has no idea if his family is still alive and feels their loss keenly. But helping to fight back sustains him, and his quadcopter is the only woman he needs. She doesn’t argue with him…unlike a certain redhead who is one hell of a kisser.
Lia Murphy lost her mother and sister in the invasion. She vows never to get emotionally involved with anyone again, and as head of the drone team, she’s always busy with work. But one cocky, arrogant pilot pushes all her buttons. When Finn issues a challenge — a fly-off in the flight simulator — she can’t resist. But she’s not sure if she can accept what he demands as his prize if he wins…her. In his bed for one night.
As Finn and Lia’s fiery attraction heats up, so does the battle with the aliens. The pair must work together to reestablish communications with other humans and discover what the aliens are hiding in a mysterious area to the north. In the process, they will face the most dangerous alien creature yet, and be tested to their very limits…
QUANTUM by Jess Anastasi – the second in the Atrophy series. I loved the first book so this one is definitely on my To Be Read List!
The story: Someone wants Captain Admiral Zander Graydon dead. Like yesterday. Zander’s convinced his attractive assistant knows more than she’s willing to say, and if he can stop running long enough, he’ll find out exactly what she’s hiding. Lieutenant Marshal Mae Petros is determined to keep her CO safe. Before she tips her hand, however, Mae has to figure out if the alluring man she’s protecting is the real Captain Admiral Graydon or an alien shape-shifting imposter.
On the run and no one to trust…not even each other.
Captain Admiral Zander Graydon has seen a lot of action, but almost getting killed three times in one day is pushing it. Only the company of his new assistant, Lieutenant Marshal Mae Petros, makes things a little easier to swallow. Except the delectable Lieutenant Marshal Petros is hiding a number of secrets, and her presence might have something to do with the continued attempts on his life.
It’s no accident Lieutenant Marshal Mae Petros finds herself in the firing line alongside the charming but very off-limits Captain Admiral Graydon. She’s taken the job as the admiral’s assistant to determine if a shape-shifting alien has killed the CO and assumed his form. Whether the admiral is human or not, Mae finds herself getting way too close to him as they run for their lives.
Military to the core, Mae and Zander will have to overcome their suspicions of each other to work together, when they realize the fate of the entire universe is at stake.
THE HIGH GROUND: IMPERIALS ONE by Melanie Snodgrass. There’s been a lot of buzz about this one and the author has written multiple novels and screenplays, including work on Star Trek: The Next Generation. She has also worked on numerous other shows, including The Profilers, Sliders and Seaquest DSV.
The story: Emperor’s daughter Mercedes is the first woman ever admitted to the High Ground, the elite training academy of the Solar League’s Star Command, and she must graduate if she is to have any hope of taking the throne. Her classmate Tracy has more modest goals — to rise to the rank of captain, and win fame and honor. But a civil war is coming and the political machinations of those who yearn for power threaten the young cadets. In a time of intrigue and alien invasion, they will be tested as they never thought possible.
BENZEN WARRIORS OF ORBA, BOOK ONE by Zara Zenia – another book with buzz.

They expected to learn some new things. However, one didn’t expect to find love.
The Orba warriors are on the run from their own people, now that their once peace-loving planet has been taken over by a hostile dictator, Palzu. They find out that they ended up on Earth and meet a young woman named Allison who takes them under her wing.
When Palzu’s soldiers come after them, the group splits up and Benzen stays behind to protect Allison. But then he starts to develop feelings for her.
What will happen when he’s forced to show her what he truly is? Will she accept him or fear him? And will they be able to escape Palzu’s forces?

VICARIOUS by Paula Stokes — This one is in the Teen and YA Science Fiction category and reviews state there is a slow burn romance. I thought the concept sounded interesting.
The story: Winter Kim and her sister, Rose, have always been inseparable. Together the two of them survived growing up in a Korean orphanage and being trafficked into the United States. But they’ve escaped the past and started over in a new place where no one knows who they used to be.
Now they work as digital stunt girls for Rose’s ex-boyfriend, Gideon, engaging in dangerous and enticing activities while recording their neural impulses for his Vicarious Sensory Experiences, or ViSEs. Whether it’s bungee jumping, shark diving, or grinding up against celebrities in the city’s hottest dance clubs, Gideon can make it happen for you — for a price.
When Rose disappears and a ViSE recording of her murder is delivered to Gideon, Winter is devastated. She won’t rest until she finds her sister’s killer. But when the clues she uncovers conflict with the digital recordings her sister made, Winter isn’t sure what to believe. To find out what happened to Rose, she’ll have to untangle what’s real from what only seems real, risking her own life in the process.
And I was involved in the cover release for a secret project of my own — a new anthology featuring NYT, USA Today Best Selling and award winning authors. Entitled PETS IN SPACE, the book will be released on October 11th and we’re donating 10% of the first month’s royalties to the Hero Dogs charity, which provides service dogs to veterans. I wrote a new STAR CRUISE story for my entry in the volume. More to come on this later!
