JustWatch: Top Streaming Shows & Films: 7/19/22

Streaming films this past week topped out at 35% genre domination.

Why and how 35%?  Because we’ve decided to give 5 percentage points for shows and films that are “genre adjacent”.

What does that mean?

It means that in our view (which is the only view that really counts at this juncture),  a show is either marginally genre in its content, OR, that despite having little or no actual genre, a show is appeal to fans of genre.

In this case the film based on the animated television show Bob’s Burgers garners that 5%.

Fittingly, EEAAO (Everything, Everywhere All At Once) takes the top honors, rounded out by the Jurassic’s latest franchise offering and an MCU entry with the (3rd, 4th, 5th…?) Spider-Man entry.

Television, or, rather, “streamingvision”, has dropped to its lowest point of genre penetration since we began tracking it here.  Two shows only, the newly released Netflix version of Resident Evil* and What We Do in the Shadows.

Stay tuned!
