Wally Funk, one of the original Mercury 13 Astronauts (13 women who took and aced the astronaut training regimen but were denied astronaut status owing to discrimination), will head to space today aboard Jeff Bezo’s New Shepherd spaceship.
Bezo’s Blue Origins company will be the second billionaires’ club rocket to take a sub-orbital flight with tourists aboard. Previously, Sir Richard Branson made a sub-orbital flight abord his Spaceship One rocket plane.
