Here I am again, reporting on MCM London Comic Con. One might think that I would get bored with the same conventions all the time, but that is far from the case. This year the MCM Comic Con was particularly well run and I had an amazing time with old friends and made new ones, as well.
First a few stats about the con – it was three full days, 22nd-24th of May. The post-show press release states that 122,634 visitors passed through the doors of the Excel Centre in the Docklands of East London. The show encompassed everything from comic books, anime, manga, movies, videogames, and cosplay (or costuming, depending on how you feel about it). I was once more provided with a press pass and used it to navigate in and out successfully. There were panels with stars from TV, film, and beyond, most of whom were available for photo opportunities with the fans. Just to drop a few names: Gillian Anderson (Robot Overlords), Felicia Day (The Guild, Supernatural), Nick Blood and Iain De Caestecker (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), and Doctor Who’s Sylvester McCoy.
But enough statistics. Here’s what I go to cons for – the people and the costumes.
The crowd, first thing in the morning. People moved in and out very efficiently.
Some REALLY awesome costumes:
And at least one very creepy costume:
There were apes:
Constantine spotted in the crowd:
Some guys on a break:
And some CATS looking for their caffeine fix:
There were lots of cool vendors and shoppes:
Power Rangers and Evil Rita:
A Sith showing off his skills:
Impressive weaponry:
Some things just make you say “What the frak?”
A mixed bag of female characters:
Futurama (Zapp Branigan and some of the crew of the Planet Express)
Guys as girls
Disney Characters:
An exhibit from Falling Skies:
Groups of all sorts, younger and older:
A few Ironmen thrown in for good measure:
Robin:
And my mate (who’s actually named Robin) as Nightwing with his brother and sister at their first con, as the Hulk and Black Widow. (Credit – this photo came from Robin; I did not take it).
Some gamers trying out the latest Dragonball XV, Xenoverse:
And I knew when I saw this guy, my job was done:
MCM London Comic Con is still the largest con I’ve attended, and simply put – the best one. Hopefully I’ll have the chance to give a report with lots of photos next year, as well.

Hello, we met at Comic Con in London. I was taking photos too, if you remember. I had come down to London from Stevenage in Hertfordshire. My photos are here https://caveartfilms.imgur.com/
