What to Watch in 2015

Jurassic WorldSo last week I gave you my review of 2014. What I thought was the best of the big and small screen. This week I’m looking forward to 2015. And boy, what a year for film. In particular, if you are a comic book adaptation fan you are in for a treat.

Jupiter Ascending – I just have a feeling that this is going to be the best the the Wachowskis have done since The Matrix. The film follows a human girl who is targeted by the Queen of the Universe for assassination, who then seeks to end the Queen’s reign.

Jurassic World – I loved the other films, it has been a long time since we’ve had a Jurassic film on our screens and the special effects have come a long way since then. The teaser trailer was enough to get every fan excited, and I can’t wait to see what this film has to offer.

Avengers: Age of Ultron – I love all of the Avengers films and of course that means I can’t wait to see what this one has to offer. It is released at the beginning of May, so my only question is, does that leave enough time for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to link up with the film?

Agent Peggy Carter –  Marvel is going back to the 1940s and the start of S.H.I.E.L.D. with this series which focuses on Captain America’s love interest of past and the founder of S.H.I.E.L.D. This fills the void on TV of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. until it returns from it’s season break.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens – of course I am nervous about Star Wars being tackled again. Episodes two and tree weren’t that great, but with JJ Abrams on board and a stellar cast, including the original cast members I’m sure this is going to be entertaining, particularly in a nostalgic way.

Insurgent – I really enjoyed the previous film Divergent so am looking forward to sequel. I haven’t read the books, but expect I will tackle them before the second film.

Ant-Man – This is another Marvel series I’m not familiar with, but with Paul Rudd on board and my feelings on Guardians of the Galaxy (still waiting Marvel for the Dancing Baby Groot toy that was supposed to be released for Christmas) I have high hopes for this.

The Fantastic Four – I loved the first film, was slightly disappointed with the second, so excited to see what the reboot will be like. It worked for The Amazing Spider-Man so surely it can work for this?

Cinderella – Kenneth Branagh directing, a live retelling as per Alice in Wonderland, this is going to be an epic, beautiful film.

Daredevil – another TV series from Marvel. It will be interesting to see how good this is following the flop that was the film.

Pan – the title says its all about the infamous Peter Pan, but the poster implies its about Hook. If it is anything like the film Hook which was really about Pan then this might actually be about following the route of the poster.

Tomorrowland – we don’t know much about this other than it is based on a part of Disney World. It worked for Pirates of the Caribbean which took a boring ride and turned it into an epic film franchise. Watch this space as we can expect more teasers and news on this film in the build up to its release.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 – it all comes to an end this year. What will be the new franchise that gets teens excited? After back to back Harry Potter, then Twilight and then Hunger Games, we are in need of another show that dominates the pre-Christmas release. Could it be my next watchout…

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials – I watched the first film the other night. It was great, but far more annoying that watching Lost. At least with Lost I had a theory from the first episode and was proved right on the final episode. With The Maze Runner I threw a few theories around, but according to my sister who as read all the books and seen the film they are all wrong (although I did apparently come up with a few good plots for a new franchise).

Z for Zachariah –  the population on earth has been wiped out and all that remains are two men and a woman. That makes for an incredible love triangle and that is what this film focuses on.

Until reading your list, I had no idea just how much we’ll have to choose from in 2015. My list is simple. Agent Carter, Avengers, Jupiter Ascending and Tomorrowland. Everything else will be scrutinize as it arrives. Only so many hours in the day. Star Wars? Aside from Eps. 4&5 can’t say I’m a fan. The lesser Marvel characters of Ant-Man and Daredevil don’t excite me and I fear The Fantastic Four could be another bad movie about a once great comic. Is it really possible to do anything that comes even close to Jack Kirby’s vision? Will you be reviewing Agent Carter? Thank again for the list.
