John Schoenherr’s art brought the worlds of Frank Herbert’s Dune and and Anne Mccaffrey’s Pern to life for us on the covers and within the pages of Analog magazine.
Now John’s son, Ian, an accomplished illustrator himself, writes about his father’s work and in particular his ability to capture a writer’s own internal visions with his art with the publication of several letters from Anne McCaffrey to John Schoenherr on Ian’s blog.
The letters are accompanied by commentary from Ian and interior illustrations from Analog for the two Pern serializations that appeared in that magazine in the 1970s.
The interior illustrations are worth the price of admission alone.
