As anyone who reads my postings knows, I’m a huge anglophile and love everything about the United Kingdom. After more than two years of not being able to travel to the UK, no comic cons in person, and all the rest of what we all have had to endure due to Covid, I made a trip over in late November and early December, just before the panic over the new variant struck and they changed the rules of travel once more. Hopefully in the near future, things will return to somewhat normal and we’ll be able to travel again.
Getting to the point, I’m looking at being able to see the Science Fiction exhibit at the Science Museum in South Kensington, London. It opens in the Autumn of this year. The title of the exhibit is ‘Science Fiction: Voyage into the Unknown’. According to Time Out London, the exhibit “is set to be the most ambitious exhibition the Science Museum has ever staged.” What is planned is an interactive, immersive experience that will “place visitors right at the heart of an interactive sci-fi story involving an extra-terrestrial spaceship.” In this experience, they will be able to interact with artifacts from major works of science fiction, a hands-on experience. The plan is to show how science fiction writers and scientists have inspired each other through the generations. It looks to be an awesome experience.
There’s a great teaser video on the museum website and a further description of what the exhibit entails. It sounds amazing.
I hope to get to this exhibit when it opens later this year. Maybe I’ll see some of you there!
