Well season three of Game of Thrones is over, and I have to say after the Red Wedding episode I had prepared myself for a dramatic season finale, which thankfully didn’t come. Don’t get me wrong, it was a decent episode, but as my friend put it “nothing is shocking me anymore after THAT episode”.
The Red Wedding has been a popular subject across the world. I’ve even had a salesman calling me at work and discussing it. (This said saleman was Scottish and we discussed the brutal Scottish scene that inspired the Red Wedding and he informed me that it was a big factor in HBO deciding to pick up the show). Everyday since it aired I have found someone new to share my thoughts with – the reason I turned to blogging was the lack of fellow TV show fans to talk to.
I decided upon watching the Red Wedding episode to start reading the books to prepare myself. If you are a non reader, and saw the episode, you were probably, like me, like one of the people in the below video – readers of the book decided to capture their friend’s reactions while they watched the episode. In a week the video has had over eight million hits.
So I have now discovered that season three is only just over half of book three, which I cannot decide if it is good news or not. So far, pretty much all of my favourite characters have been killed and as author George R. R. Martin has said “got a favourite character? Not anymore!” I don’t know if I want this show to go on for a long time.
I will carry on reading the books for now, but will say this, if Jon Snow is taken away from me, I might debate how long my relationship with this show is going to last!
