The family of author and editor James Sallis announced via his website on January 27th that he had passed “peacefully with his wife Karyn by his side” that same day.
James Sallis began his SF writing career with Kazoo, a short story sold to New Worlds magazine in 1967, where he also worked as an assistant editor. He is known for stories published in that magazine and in Damon Knight’s original anthology series Orbit.
No announcement of memorial services or donation suggestions are listed on the website, which can be found here. The family’s statement informs that the website will remain active in honor of James’ legacy.
His latest work, the novel World’s Edge: A Mosaic Novel, will be released in February of this year.
