If you had to survive in a fantasy world with only the contents of your fridge, what would be your game plan?
Find another fridge.
If you had to choose between being a cyborg or a hologram, which would you pick and why?
A cyborg, definitely. I think I’d have an existential crisis not being “real.”
If you had to choose between fighting 100 duck-sized robots or one robot-sized duck, which would you pick and why?
I’m terribly uncoordinated and the idea of fighting 100 robots at the same time sounds like instant death. At least with one big guy, I’d have a chance at making a lucky shot.
If aliens were to visit Earth, what do you think their first impression of humans would be?
That humans are supersized ants: busybodies constantly going back and forth between places and working all the time.
If you were stranded on a deserted planet with only one book to read, but it turned out to be one of your own, how would you feel?
I would name the planet Hell because I’d be obligated to rewrite my book forever. After too many rewrites, the end product would probably read as bad as an AI-generated book.
If you could swap lives with any character from one of your books for a day, who would it be and what would you do?
I’d pick Captain Jack in Space Junk . He has nanites in his blood so he can live basically forever (I’m unathletic and clumsy—I need all the help I can get to survive in space), and he’s got a cool ship to travel anywhere I’d want. So, I’d hop in the ship and travel as far as I could in the time I had.
If you could have any fictional pet as a companion, what would it be and why?
As a dog person, I’d choose a hellhound. It’s basically a puppy with a badass attitude and a whole lot of toughness to back it up.
If you could have scripted Stanley Kubrick’s Moon landing hoax, how would it differ from the original?
Set up hab-tents so they could camp and give off a good boy scout vibe.

Well, I’d better get back to work. Next up is a new science fiction series I’m writing with JN Chaney. If you want to try out one of my books, my latest series is Redline Corps, with all 3 books out now. Start with Expendable, book 1, where a news journalist arrested for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, Liv Reyes now serves as a war correspondent in a war we’re losing badly. This is a story of Earth’s last line of defense… who never even made it through basic training.
You can get any of my books on Kindle, audiobook, and print. Check out my website, www.rachelaukes.com , to see my full book list. Enjoy reading! book image here author bio here
