File 770 reports that the agenda for the WSFS business meeting has been released (my understanding is that it was released a few days AFTER the deadline for producing such a document) and the English version can be found here, while the Chinese language version is here. (Wish I had someone who knew Chinese well enough to do a line-by-line comparison of the two….)
Of special note are the numerous agenda items scheduled to address issues that arose with Chengdu’s failure to follow the rules….
Of special note is the proposal for an ASFiC (Asian regional convention taking place whenever Worldcon is not held in Asia), which, if it passes and is ratified, would probably also include an additional member being added to the MPC. Given China’s historic disrespect for foreign IP, I would caution against this.
Regardless, just a few days to go to the event. I’ve got numerous friends attending (yes, they are aware of my objections to this event; no, I have no issues with them going as the issues I do have are with the Chinese government and certain individuals in our own community who ought to know better. I don’t ask other people to fight my battles) so I’m hoping that we’ll have some good, inside reporting on the event.
