SPECIAL NOTE: #DISNEYMUSTPAY. Author Alan Dean Foster held a press conference hosted by SFWA to announce that Disney Corp had failed to pay the author royalties since acquiring the rights to numerous books through their purchases of Fox and other entities. Disney has stonewalled Foster, the SFWA Grievance Committee and attorneys, claiming that while they acquired the rights, they “did not acquire the obligations”.
SFWA views Disney’s response to be a potential threat to copyright and authors everywhere and took the unprecedented step of taking this matter public in order to put pressure on the mega media corp to respond.
It is essential that authors and fans help spread the word in order to get some justice. A Twitter hashtag #DisneyMustPay has been created and you can read the thread here. Here are links to the video of the press conference, a transcription of Foster’s presentation, a place to register your non-payment issues with Disney (if you are an author), and, below, a selection of images supporting the effort.
The more people bitch publicly about this legitimate problem, the more likely it will to be resolved.

J. Michael Straczynski’s project to publish a version of Ellison’s Last Dangerous Visions continues apace, with mixed responses. Some complain that it will be outdated, or that it is well past time for such things, others are eagerly looking forward to the contents as described by JMS (including the staff here at Amazing Stories), which can be found at the Patreon site.
