The New Mars Missions

The NY Times has a nice feature on the three new probes being send to Mars this year, all of which have or will launch within a few short weeks of each other, owing to orbital mechanics and planetary alignments.

The UAE’s Hope orbiter launched first on July 19 and will observe Mars and its atmosphere; China’s Tianwen-1 launched July 23rd and comprises an orbiter, a lander and a rover; on July 30th, NASA’s Perseverence rover will launch (the largest rover yet) and it will be accompanied by a helicopter drone – Ingenuity.
