Planet’s dusty disk mirrors origins of Jupiter’s moons

An exoplanet may mirror Jupiter’s moon formation

A ‘circumplanetary disk’ of gas and dust that’s a lot like the one scientists think made Jupiter’s moons surrounds the distant planet PDS 70 c.

 

Astronomers have made the first observations of a circumplanetary disk of gas and dust similar to the one that scientists believe birthed the moons of Jupiter.
