Mark Iles

iles markWith an MA in Professional writing Mark has worked as an author, editor, proofreader and copywriter. His short stories have been published in Back Brain Recluse, Dream, New Moon, Auguries, Haunts, Kalkion,Screaming Dreams, and the anthologies Right To Fight, Escape Velocity, Auguries and Monk Punk.

With an 9th Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo he’s written non-fiction for Combat, Taekwondo & Korean Martial Arts, Fighters, Junk, Martial Arts Illustrated, and He’s also run ‘Orbiter’ writing groups for the BSFA for many years and more recently set up writers’ groups, known as ‘The Scribe’, for veterans under the auspices of The Royal British Legion.

Mark’s first full-length work was ‘Kwak’s Competition Taekwondo’, published by Hai Feng in 1986. He self-published the short-story collection ‘Distant Shores’ in 2012 and his debut novel ‘A Pride of Lions’ was published by Solstice Shadows in September 2013. This was the first book in ‘The Darkening Stars’ series. Since then Book II,‘The Cull of Lions’, and 4 novellas have also published by Solstice. These are: ‘A Connoisseur of the Bizarre’, ‘Sally Jane’, ‘Nightshade’ and ‘Santa Claws is Coming’. Solstice published his second short-story collection, ‘Falling from Grace & Others’, in 2014.

Mark is currently focusing on Book III, ‘Roar of Lions’, which he hopes to see published early 2017.
