He holds a bachelor’s degree in physics, a master’s degree in mathematics education, and memberships in both American Mensa and the National Association of Science Writers.

In addition to his work as a science writer, he has dissecting themes in pop culture sources ranging from The Avengers (time travel) to George R. R. Martin’s “Song of Ice and Fire” (atheism) to The Hunger Games (game theory) through volumes in the Blackwell Philosophy and Pop Culture series and the Smart Pop Books series.
