New Releases in Science Fiction/Fantasy/Paranormal Romance for DEC 16

Put one of these under the mistletoe!

Here’s the weekly post from my author blog on the new releases I found to be of interest in my three favorite romance genres (which are also the ones I write in!), and related areas such as time travel, steampunk, paranormal cozy romances and more. I do sometimes cover other releases of note in science fiction and fantasy.

As always, I recommend sampling before you buy! I have not read most of the new releases listed (although I always end up one-clicking a bunch as I prepare these posts). I don’t pick up every single new release each week but try to provide a representative subset and lots of choices.

Here’s a teaser for this week’s first book (jump to the blog to see the approximately 75+ titles featured this week):

Christmas is a stressful and lonely time of year for Noelle, as she struggles to keep her holiday shop open while coming home late to an empty house. Then one night a seven-foot-tall furry alien hurtles down her chimney and she suddenly finds herself mated to a huge creature who yearns to leave the planet she loves. Naus is a banished alien stuck on a tinsel-strewn world full of annoying hairless primitives. There’s only one that catches his nose and he finds himself literally falling for her. He’s willing to overlook her obsession with all things Christmas, but can he possibly agree to make Earth his home for the holidays and beyond to stay with her?

From the ashes rises a fiery love. An old crone has a prophecy for Cam. Travel to the Diamond Kingdom and prepare to sacrifice yourself. Sounds like a suicide mission to him, but what else is he going to do? Everyone he loves is in grave danger, and he might be the only one who can save them. What he doesn’t expect was to find any people still alive. It’s been over twenty years since anyone was last seen coming out of Diamond. A long time for a small group of people to survive. And now they’re looking at him for help. How can he say no? Especially to a princess who’s already suffered so much. Because of her, he finds a reason to fight. A reason to live. What a shame he has to die.

Crossroads: Science Fiction Romance – A Niche Before Its Time?

Last week, we talked about paranormal romance and the ways in which it uses longstanding cultural archetypes (vampires, werewolves, etc.) to explore power, sexuality, and possibly even deeper existential themes.
