RPGnet Newsletter #15
August 4, 2015

New Columns

First, R. Donald James Gauvreau took a look at the Rarámuri – a Central American people renowned for their running ability – in his latest Applying History: “Those Who Run Fast”.

Next, in the latest Greetings from Magrathea, Bryan Jonker (after a little personal commentary) takes a look at integrating fantastical elements into governmental structures in “Polis”.

And, Christopher Cecil gave us a new Fuzzy Thinking comic: “Tell Me About Your Character”.

New Reviews

RPGnet added seven great new reviews last week:

Threads You Might Have Missed

RPGnet’s RPG-focused areas had a glut of great new threads last week. Here are just a few.

First, as you probably know if you’ve read this far into a Newsletter dedicated to a Role Playing Game website, Gen Con was last weekend. For the latest news on all the happenings in Indianapolis, check out “What is the news from Gen Con? over in TRO. (You’ll also find a link therein to a thread discussing the biggest industry news to come out of this year’s Gen Con thus far: “Moon Design Joins Chaosium Ownership Group”.)

For some lighthearted fun that sometimes veers into solid GMing advice, you should also stop by “What’s your favorite GM advice Cliché?”.

Speaking of clichés, “Rule one – NEVER split the party” is also worth a read for some funny stories and GMing advice.

On a slightly more serious note: do you care about other players in the game cheating? There’s something innately offensive about it, to be sure, but does it really have an impact on the game? For your fellow RPGnetters’ opinions on these and related questions, take a look at “Allowing your players to cheat”.
