Don’t Forget the Solar Eclipse: Tomorrow!

One of THE most awesome celestial events takes place tomorrow across most of the central continental USA – a total solar eclipse.

The Moon has chosen to “eat the sun” tomorrow and much of the country will experience totality (the entire solar disc covered by the Moon) at some time during the day.

It is probably too late to get eclipse shades for tomorrow (Amazing Stories ordered in an “Eclipse Kit” from the Planetary Society) unless you live down the block from an astronomy store.

However, you can still watch by using a “pinhole camera”.  Here are instructions from NASA.  I made one the last time a total eclipse came to New Jersey, back in 1970.

Most of the country will experience at least a partial eclipse.  You can find out times here.  Maps for the path of totality, here
