THE STATE OF AMAZING

A quick note to appraise you all of some developments taking place here at Amazing Stories.

Membership is growing both here and on our Facebook page.  Thank you.  We are achieving a bit of critical mass at this point – likes are up, re-tweets are up, links to articles from other websites are up and these are all positive things that help us move in in the right direction.

There are enough members and supporters of the site right now that if each of you recommended us to a friend or family member and encouraged them to join the site, it would have a significant impact.  Please think about doing that.

I am currently in the process of hiring two part-time (volunteer) non-fiction editors for the site.  My recent family emergency moved that goal to the front burner.  I’ve received several promising applications and am still looking for more.  Email me for details if you might be interested.  I’d like to split up the week between two individuals – keeping the workload pretty light.  The primary task will be to gently apply a set of stylebook-like standards, eliminate typos and grammatical errors and increase the quality of our deliverables.  (And free me up for other things.)

We are seriously in the process of introducing the Excellence in SF Denialism Award.  Our trophy will feature a rocketship accompanied by two talking squids.  We’ll be announcing categories and a nomination process in the near future.

I hope you are all enjoying our efforts.  As always, I’d love to hear your suggestions on how we can improve.
