Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is going to rock

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I cannot wait for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to start (24 September in the US), it has interest from UK broadcasters, but none confirmed as yet, but hopefully we won’t have to wait too long this side of the pond. The main reason I am excited about this TV series is it brings back from the dead my favourite Marvel movie character, Agent Coulson played by Clark Gregg. He has been the glue that has linked all of the films together, and his character adds some subtle humour to the series. I can’t wait to see what he brings to a TV show.

Secondly I am excited that this is being brought to us by Joss Whedon. He hasn’t lost his TV background now he is playing with the big boys…if you have seen his take on Much Ado About Nothing you will see that he is keeping himself grounded and ensuring he doesn’t get taken over by blockbuster movies.

Thirdly, as much as I love Arrow, I still feel a gaping hole where Smallville once was, and with my other favourite TV show How I Met Your Mother entering it’s last season I am in real need of something to keep me switching on my TV…and I have a feeling that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. could be it. The pilot episode has already received a standing ovation to test audiences, and certainly did well at Comic-Con.

As soon as I manage to see it I will let you know if it is everything I have hoped for.

  1. To tell the truth, I’m not too big on comic book adaptations. I do hope that SOME production will cross over from the Avengers movie besides Joss. The production value on his television efforts was good, but not really movie quality. That’s what this treatment really needs to deliver on those expectations people are (inevitably!) going to have. I do love that Clark Greg, tho. ^,^
